GALLERY 165: NORTHERN HAWK OWL
The winter of 2004-2005 in Minnesota was marked by a larger than usual influx of northern owls into Minnesota, from Canada. While the Great Gray Owl numbers far exceeded the sum of all the other owls, Northern Hawk Owls were readily found in the northern woods. They are a bit more difficult to photograph, due to their smaller size and preference for tree top perches.
