GALLERY 215: Northern Hawk Owl 2015
During the winter of 2015, a Northern Hawk Owl estabished a winter territory in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The territory consisted of three or four backyards bisected by Lars avenue with some open fields south. The word got out that the owl was maintaining a fairly small territory and could readily be seen on a favorite perch along Lars avenue. The owl became known as Lars and provided great enjoyment for birders and photographers until mid March when Lars left the area, presumably heading north. I hope you will enjoy my favorite twelve photos, out of thousands, which tell the story of Lars. Special thanks to the homeowners along Lars avenue who gave me free access to enter their back yard for photographs and even invited me in for refreshments.
