GALLERY 220: LOONS
The Common Loon is the Minnesota State bird and in general an icon representing the solitude of the northern woods and lakes. During the summer of 2016 I was primarily working on a project photographing Western Grebes but was able to spend three sessions taking pictures of loons. One morning I was out on my own and the other afternoon and morning I photographed with my friend Jay who invited me to his lake place. Many thanks to Jay and his family for hosting. The Common Loon still remains one of my most favorite subjects. This year I tried to get images of very young chicks. I hope you like the results.
