GALLERY 60: TUFTED PUFFIN
In July of 2003, I traveled with Greg Downing to St. Paul Island, Alaska, a very remote destination in the Bering Sea. Although not the easiest destination to reach, St. Paul Island provides excellent photographic opportunities for Tufted and Horned Puffins as well as countless other bird species, Northern Fur Seal and blue phase Arctic Fox. On the first day, we asked our guide whether or not travelers might miss seeing and photographing puffins at close range during this time of year. He responded that it was "inconceivable!"
